Anthony and the Shiny Helper Knight

Anthony is a young helper knight who practices glow magic in his castle. When a sneeze makes a sparkly mess in the kitchen, he uses the same magic to clean up and gently light the feast candles.

Anthony and the Shiny Helper Knight

Anthony was a young helper knight in a tall stone castle. The castle was safe and quiet inside. In a small training room, sunshine came through a high window. Anthony held his wooden shield and practiced glow magic. “Glow, gentle shield,” he whispered. The shield flashed very bright, then quickly went dark again. Anthony blinked in surprise. He smiled a little. “I will keep trying,” he said softly. He held the shield close and waited for his next chance to help.

Sir Rowan, a kind knight in shiny armor, peeked into the room. Knights wore armor to stay safe and to help others. “Anthony, the cook needs you,” he said with a warm smile. They walked to the busy kitchen. Pots bubbled, and warm bread smells filled the air. The cook wiped her hands on her apron. “Please light the feast candles with your glow spell,” she said. Long rows of plain, white candles waited on a big wooden table.

Anthony stood on tiptoe by the table and took a deep breath. “Glow, tiny flames—achoo!” he sneezed in the middle of the spell. Sparkles burst into the air like tiny stars. They landed on bowls, bread, and flour, making a shiny, sticky mess. Anthony’s cheeks felt hot. “I wanted to help,” he whispered. He looked around and had an idea. He pointed at the brooms and cloths in the corner. Very slowly, very clearly, he said the magic words again.

The brooms wobbled, then started to sweep in careful, slow circles. The cloths floated up and wiped the table clean. Anthony watched closely and spoke each word with care. Soon the kitchen shone again. The cook clapped her hands. “Wonderful helping!” she said. Later, Anthony walked through the great stone hall. He softly glowed each candle, one by one, until warm light filled the room. Sir Rowan nodded proudly. Anthony smiled. His chest felt warm. He felt proud, just like a real knight.
