Terms of Service

Primary Story (“Primary Story”, “we”, “our” or “us”) provides parents, caregivers, and educators with tools to generate personalised stories, illustrations, and reading activities for children. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) explain how the platform works and the expectations for everyone using it.

By creating an account, purchasing story credits, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the Services.

The Services are intended for parents, guardians, teachers, and other adults over the age of 18. Children may enjoy stories created with Primary Story under adult supervision but cannot register their own accounts.

You agree to provide accurate information during registration, keep your login credentials secure, and notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.

Primary Story currently uses a story credit model. Each new story uses one story credit. Optional top-up packs or subscription tiers may provide additional credits, features, or priority access.

Unless we say otherwise at checkout, purchases are non-refundable. You may cancel a subscription at any time from your dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle.

You agree to pay the fees disclosed at the time of purchase, including any applicable taxes or bank charges. Pricing may change in the future, and we will provide reasonable notice where required.

Keep Primary Story safe for children. You agree not to misuse the Services or encourage anyone else to do so.

• Generating or distributing content that is unlawful, hateful, explicit, or otherwise inappropriate for children
• Attempting to bypass safety filters, access controls, or rate limits
• Reverse engineering, scraping, or attempting to obtain source code or trade secrets
• Uploading malicious code or using the Services for spam, phishing, or fraudulent activity

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these guidelines, especially if child safety is at risk.

Primary Story and its licensors own all intellectual property in the Services, including text, graphics, illustrations, trademarks, and software.

We grant you a limited, non-transferable licence to use the Services for personal, non-commercial educational purposes. You may download, print, and share stories you create for the children in your care.

You retain rights to the prompts, ideas, and original material you provide. You grant us a licence to use that material (in anonymised form) to operate, maintain, and improve the Services.

Our stories are generated by artificial intelligence. We tune prompts for child-friendly outcomes, but AI can produce unexpected results. Please review stories before sharing them with children.

Primary Story supports reading practice; it does not replace formal education, therapy, or professional advice.

Primary Story is still evolving. Features may change, be added, or be removed without prior notice. We may suspend or discontinue parts of the Services for maintenance, safety, or compliance.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms and, where appropriate, notify you through the Services or by email. Continuing to use the Services after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF TITLE, ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation, nor that the Services will meet your specific needs.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Primary Story will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses arising from your use of the Services.

In all cases, our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Services will be limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim, or £100 (GBP) if you have not made any purchases.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Primary Story, our officers, directors, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Services, your content, or your breach of these Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you reside outside the United Kingdom, you are responsible for complying with local laws.

We aim to resolve concerns quickly and amicably. Please contact us first before pursuing legal action. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where local law requires otherwise.
