The deck of the Starfish moved up and down on the small waves. Bright flags flapped above Captain Isla’s head.

She smoothed her captain’s hat and stared at a ripped treasure map. Some islands were missing from it.

“We must reach the secret bay before the other pirate captain, Captain Flint,” she told her crew.

Toma, her clever helper, frowned. “With half a map, it will be hard,” he said.

Shy Mei, the girl who had once hidden on the ship, peeked from behind a barrel.

On the mast, their pirate code sign said, “Race fair. Share treasure. Keep your promises.” Isla read it and nodded.

Suddenly, a silvery fog slid over the sea and hid the islands.

“The fog hid our path,” Isla said. “We need a new honest plan. No tricks, even if Flint uses them.”

After a while, the fog grew thinner near some rocky arches in the sea.

Mei leaned over the rail and listened. “I hear soft sounds,” she whispered. The waves almost sounded like words.

She pointed. “Look! Shells!”

Floating shells made curly shapes on the water. They matched the torn edge of the map.

“It’s a clue path,” Toma said. “If we match each shell shape to the same island shape on the map, we can find the secret bay.”

Glowing fish swam below and showed a safe way between bright coral.

They turned the wheel and followed the arches and shell marks.

Then Isla saw dark sails ahead. Captain Flint’s ship was near a black hole in the cliffs.

“That must be his shortcut,” Toma said. “If we stay on the shell path, he might get there first.”

“Our code says no copying secret tricks,” Isla reminded them. “We follow the shells and stay fair.”

The shell clue path curved behind a tall rock wall. When the Starfish sailed around it, a hidden secret bay appeared. The water was bright and still.

At the back of the bay, a shiny cave waited.

Inside, water shined back little map shapes on the cave walls.

“There!” Mei cried. A small chest sat on a stone shelf.

Toma lifted it carefully. Inside were neat stacks of gold coins and a rolled chart.

Isla unrolled the chart. Thin red lines crossed many islands.

“It’s Captain Flint’s shortcut chart,” she said. “It shows secret ways under the islands. If we keep it, we could win every treasure race.”

The crew went quiet. The choice felt hard.

“Our pirate code says no tricking others after a fair race,” Isla said. “If we hide this, we break our own code.”

Mei touched the chart. “Today we listened, used clues, and shared ideas,” she said. “I want to keep doing that.”

Toma nodded. “You promised we would be fair, Captain. That promise is treasure too.”

Later, the tide was low, and a sunny sandbar joined both ships.

Captain Flint walked over, boots splashing in the shallow water.

“You reached the secret bay first, Isla,” he said. He sounded surprised but friendly. “How did you do it?”

Isla held up a new chart. The old shortcut chart was back in the chest, safe and dry.

“We followed shell clues on the sea,” she said. “We also found your shortcut chart. We drew this new one from yours, so both of us can use the same shortcut. Your chart is still yours.”

She shared the gold into two shining piles. “One pile for the Starfish. One pile for your ship. Our code tells us to share and be fair.”

Flint looked at the treasure and the chart. Then he smiled.

“Most pirates would keep it all,” he said. “Now I want to be a fair pirate too.”

Mei grinned. “Sharing makes the adventure more fun,” she said.

Toma added, “When we keep our code, we feel proud of who we are.”

As the crews cheered and flags waved in the warm wind, Isla felt a happy glow inside. That feeling was her favorite treasure of all.
