The Bright Trail Across the Ice

Piri the Arctic fox helps Nuna the polar bear cub follow clues across the moonlit ice, and a glowing trail leads them to a joyful family gathering beside a sheltered cove.

The Bright Trail Across the Ice

At the snowy edge of the Arctic Ocean, the wind swept the drifts into soft curves. Piri the Arctic fox padded over the shining ice, her white tail held high. She found Nuna, a polar bear cub with thick fur, looking worried. “I can’t find the place where my mother is meeting the other animals,” he said. Beside him, Sila the seal lifted her whiskers and smiled. “We can help,” she said kindly.

Piri bent low and spotted clear clues in the snow: a row of small pawprints, a bent reed, and little marks where snow had been nudged aside. Sila pointed to round breathing holes in the ice. “My family uses these,” she explained. “They lead us through this area.” Then Nori the narwhal swam beneath the ice, his spiral tusk gleaming. “I’ll watch from below,” he called. When a fresh drift covered the tracks, the friends stayed calm and looked closely together.

Nori blew a stream of bubbles under the ice. They rose in a bright, twisting line, sparkling in the moonlight. “That’s the way!” Nuna cried. The trail split into two lines, one heading toward deep water and one drifting toward a sheltered cove. Piri looked at the snow marks again. “The softer line matches the pawprints,” she said. Sila listened and heard gentle splashes near the cove. “This way,” she said, and everyone followed the clearer trail.

Together they followed the pawprints, the bubbles, and the soft splashes. A small swirl of snow hid the shore for a moment. Then the sheltering rocks of a cove came into view. There stood Nuna’s mother, smiling warmly beside the other animals. Nuna raced forward and pressed his nose to hers. Piri swished her tail happily. “Tiny clues can lead to big discoveries,” she said. In the quiet moonlight, the whole group shared a peaceful, joyful meeting.
